A transforming sector that needs greater female representation

The talent of women, key to the future of industry

The contribution of women has been essential in industrialisation, and at SOME, we are fully aware of this. Despite being a predominantly industrial company, women have played a fundamental role since our beginnings in 1973. At that time, half of the workforce consisted of women, versatile workers who contributed to the company’s growth in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

Today, we are not yet a gender-balanced workforce, but the presence of women at SOME is increasingly significant, with professionals holding key positions across various departments. The industrial sector faces major challenges in the coming decade, and only companies capable of attracting and retaining the best talent will overcome them. Therefore, integrating more women into the industry is essential, as they bring crucial values such as teamwork, transparency, versatility, and commitment.

We celebrate 8 March, International Women’s Day, to remember the historical struggle for equality. This date commemorates the events of 8 March 1908, when a group of textile workers at the Cotton factory in New York went on strike to demand better working conditions. The factory owner locked the doors, and due to a fire, 129 women lost their lives. This tragic event became a milestone in the fight for women's labour rights and equality.

At SOME, we are committed to advancing towards a more diverse, inclusive, and fair industry and strongly support the integration of more women into the sector.
