Founded in 1973 by partners Joan Solà and Ramón Mena, SOME S.A. began operating in Sant Quirze de Besora (Barcelona) as a supplier for the multinational S&P, manufacturing metal parts and assemblies using cutting, stamping, bending, deep-drawing, riveting and welding processes.
After consolidating the business over the first few years, the partners focused their activities on producing products with a certain degree of technical difficulty, turning their workshop into a fully-fledged industrial plant.
In the '80s the company started supplying clients in the automotive sector (REPA, KLIPAN, BROSE, etc.) and the industrial electronics sector (HEWLETT-PACKARD, PANASONIC), which gave it the momentum needed to consolidate itself in the '90s as an integrated sheet metal processing company. Working to very strict specifications and using the most advanced technologies, it was able to guarantee the supply of the most technically efficient and highly competitive products, related in most cases to occupant safety.
In the year 2000, a new section specialized in medium tonnage progressive stamping (400T-500 t) was created and SAP ERP was implemented.
In 2005, the plant was expanded with the construction of a 1,500 m2 warehouse, increasing the total production area to 13,900 m2.
In 2006 the company MATRIX was acquired, which specializes in the manufacture of injection moulds and press dies.
In 2009, our Polish subsidiary SOME KSW was created, helping to strengthen the European presence of what today is known as the SOME GROUP.
Currently, SOME has consolidated its position as one of the leading companies in the metal processing sector.
